Information for Turpin Distribution Customers

As of October 3, 2022, Berghahn Books is no longer distributed by Turpin Distribution. Please do not pay any outstanding invoices or send any new orders/returns to Turpin Distribution. Any outstanding payments or new orders/returns should be sent to Berghahn directly.

New Customers

All new customers must work with their sales rep to complete a new customer/credit application or order directly at without completing an application.

Returns must be made within 6 months of the book being ordered and be approved in advance. Please email all details to for authorization.

In most cases, in lieu of returns, we will ask that a Certificate of Destruction with photographic proof of destruction. An online form will be emailed to you with approval for the return.

For returns of 5 or more copies of a single ISBN, please speak to your rep first as we may choose to have those books physically returned.

Special events

Returns for event orders must be claimed within 30 days of the event. Whether or not the physical books will need to be returned will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Please email for details.


Damaged books must be claimed within 30 days of receipt. You will need photographic proof of damage, including photos of the packaging and the books (as well as a picture of the barcode and text printed on the last page) that clearly show the damage. Claims and any questions should be sent to
