Berghahn Series
Culture and Society in Central Eurasia
Series Editor:
Peter Finke, University of Zurich
This series provides in-depths accounts of social and cultural life in contemporary Central and Inner Asia, a region that has experienced dramatic changes in recent decades. In popular conception, these are often linked to scenarios of ethnic conflicts, ecological crises, and social disruptions but on the ground the situation shows a much more complex picture. Taking an interdisciplinary view, the series adopts an inside view to describe the impacts such changes have had on everyday life, social and political institutions, state building and the formation of identity, as well as religious and cultural practices.
