This year’s American Anthropological Association conference in Washington, D.C. was quite a success for Berghahn Books.
The conference started Wednesday, December 3, with an awards ceremony, at which our publisher Marion Berghahn earned the AAA Executive Director’s Award.
Marion and Vivian Berghahn share a happy moment at the award ceremony.

The Berghahn booth was teeming with activity, with authors stopping by to say hello and look over recent additions to our Anthropology list (including some of their own!).
Chaise Ladousa with his book Hindi is our Ground, English is our Sky: Education, Language, and Social Class in Contemporary India.
Rachel Stryker with her book Up, Down, and Sideways: Anthropologists Trace the Pathways of Power. Her co-editor Roberto Gonzales was at the meeting but is not pictured here.
Sharryn Kasmir and August Carbonella with their volume Blood and Fire: Toward a Global Anthropology of Labor.
Cecília Tomori with her book Nighttime Breastfeeding: An American Cultural Dilemma.

Friday afternoon, Berghahn hosted a wine reception to — among other causes for celebration — recognize the launch of our Environment and Society journal’s companion site www.envirosociety.org. Also worth noting, Focaal and Museum Worlds launched companion sites this year.
Vivian Berghahn and Paige West, co-editor with Dan Brockington of the Environment and Society journal.
Cheers!
All in all, a great success! We look forward to seeing everyone at AAA 2015 in Denver!
